relocation responsibility during major repairs

Posted by Lee on June 03, 1999 at 01:10:22:

Due to a major leak in our shower, they are going to be tearing out the whole thing, shower, floor ect. so we are having to move to a hotel for at least 1 week while they begin repairs. The plan is to come back and live in while they finish the fine work on the shower/bath but we will not be able to use it.

question: Legally does the landlord have to pay our hotel bill while we are forced to relocate? Do we have to pay rent for the days we will not be at the condo at all? And when we return, do we have to pay rent for the days we don't have a shower? It is the only bathroom and shower.

Please if anyone has any idea of what they are financially responsible for I'd appreciate you e-mailing me with info/

Thanks. Lee
