Sale of condo

Posted by John Young on June 02, 1999 at 17:06:34:

I have just moved into a condo rental, for which I paid a broker fee. On moving in, the broker informed me that the owner plans to sell the unit (contrary to what I was told when I signed the lease a few weeks earlier) and can terminate my lease a month after the sale. This clause is in the lease, but I can't believe that a broker could get away with taking a fee and then effectively cancelling the lease right away. Is there any legal recourse to this?
