I've been living in a rent stabalized apt for 3 years with one roomate. When we moved in, the landlord said she preferred to have only one name on the lease. But she still required me to fill out an application as a resident and I filled out paperwork that she said held me responsible for half the rent. She also accepts two checks each month--one from my roomate and one from me. Now my roomate is thinking about moving out and I'd like to stay, but I 'm afraid she' ll try to raise the rent/draw up a new lease. I've heard she's done it to other residents before. DO I have any rights?
