I recently moved out of the condo I was renting and on moving day we had pulled the U-Haul up to the front steps (for ease of loading) and on the grass. Within five minutes we were asked to move the truck off the lawn because we could damage the sprinkler heads. We moved the truck immediately. However, the Condo Association had sent a letter to my landlord about this and now he is holding my security until the sprinkler system is turned on and he knows it is working properly and no damage was done. I told him that my "security" was for the condo (which he said was in good shape when I moved out) and not for the sprinkler system (which I also told him I would take care of if there was a problem). My question: Can he hold my security until the sprinkler system is turned on and everything is working properly or does he have to return the money to me within 30 days? I feel they are separate issues.
