: : I am not paying more than the rent for the whole apartment,
: : just the lion's share of it. I guess I was wondering if I
: : would have more say if I were on the lease and if it was
: : possible to get on the lease. I should just ask the landlord?

: *******

: I would ask the roommate service first: face to face. They might have a history with the roommate or the landlord. Also: being on the lease gives you more rights if the apt is stabilized, maybe more clout with the landlord, but also brings more legal responsibilities. You could be held liable for the whole rent or the remaining rent on the lease. Talk to other people before you contact the landlord.
: ps: someone else might know if your roommate has anything to say about adding you to the lease: s/he might.

I was waiting for that last comment. I would be amazed if the LL could add someone to these without notifying and getting the consent of the prime tenant.
