LL WON'T LET ME MOVE MY SAFE INTO MY APARTMENT..IS THIS LEGAL??

Posted by Justin on May 01, 1999 at 05:27:17:

I moved into an apartment in Queens June/98. On my move-in day I had a safe that some movers were delivering to my new apartment. My landlady saw the safe and said "No Way". She said the movers may damage the steps taking it up to the third floor. Now, if the movers are bonded, and the structure can support the weight of the safe (approx. 800 lbs), can she legally deny me the right to my own furniture? It has already cost me about $600 to store the safe in a warehouse off the premises. Is this money recoverable?
