You might run the risk of having the landlord declare your dog a nuisance and revoke, on those grounds, your right to keep the dog. I can understadn that there may be others who contribute to the hallway problems. But your dog has obviously singled out already.
Yes, landlords/management are responsible for maintaining common areas on a regular basis. But if they feel their efforts are being inhibited, the results may be negative, in this case, where you and the dog are concerned. Best to try to keep the peace if you want to keep the dog. A little cleaning up after yourself can't be all that tedious.
