: Can anyone tell me whether there is any way to prevent a landlord from raising the rent on stabilized apartments to market levels where a J51 tax abatement has expired? THANKS!
There may be some technical loopholes. Does the lease advise the tenant that there will be an increase upon J51 expiration? Is the increase a disguised retaliatory eviction? Was there a federal or state program besides J51 that provided funding?
