You should consider making a request to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (which is the successor to the Tenement House Department) for the old tenement house registration records. Those old records often show a great deal of information about buildings during that era. Your request should be directed to the Freedom of Information Law officer of DHPD at 100 Gold Street. You will be charged 25 cents per page and you should expect anywhere from three to fifteen pages of records.
