Landlord keeps changing lease terms...

Posted by Joseph on December 15, 1998 at 04:35:29:

I have encountered an interesting dilemna.. I was told at the first of the
month that a house that I am looking to lease would be mine. My credit is
great and checked out with the prospective landlord and her agent. She was said
to have been very picky about the tenant and that my credit would have to
be pristine. Well it's 14 days later and the landlord has yet to sign the
lease. I had given notice at my current residence and then her agent call's
me today and says that the landlord has changed the lease and the agreed upon
amount of monthly rent has been raised from $2000/ month to $2150.00 per month.
The owner of the property has been very evasive and hard to get a hold of. I have
been working with their agent and the agent even has had a hard time
getting in touch with the owner. I only have 2 weeks left and I feel that
the owner has strung me along so that she can strong arm me into a lease
that would be to her benefit because she has knowledge that I have given my
30 days notice at my previous home.. Do I have any recourse against her?
All I want is the original agreement upheld. Please someone give me some
input..

Thanks,

Joseph
