: For over 10 yeras I have lived in a NY apt.where the lease in in my (living) brother's name, not mine. I have paid the rent for ten years. My bother does not want the apt. back he is happy elsewhere. My question is, can the landlord ask me to leave because the lease is in my brother's name and not mine? Do I have any rights to the apt?

This is a succession rights issue (the info is on the web site) if the unit is rent regulated. The
'97 rent regulation law restricted succession rites, but I think siblings are still eligible. Look at the 97 law info before making any decisions.
