My dad and I live with his girlfriend. The lease to her apartment is under
her ex-husband's name, but she kept the apartment. I believe the apt. is rent
controlled. Her and my dad have not been getting along and he recently gave
her $2500 dollars for the apartment. However, I am concerned that she will
either a) keep the money and give up the lease to the apartment thereby making
it no longer rent stabilized or b) she will refuse to move out despite accepting
the money and promising to do so. What rights do we have? My father has been
living there for about 5 years and I have been there for a year and a half.
