verbal promise by landlord

Posted by Birgitte on November 02, 1998 at 21:24:42:

We moved into a new appartment last month, and prior to signing the lease we asked the landlord several times, if a certain kind of internet access was avaliable. His response was yes. He was wrong. Now we can not make the money to pay the rent, that would have come from work done on the computer, needing highspeed internet access (DSL, Cable modem e.g). The landlord has admitted he was wrong, but I want to know what my rights are. We need to move. How can we get out of the lease? What about the rent we already paid? What about moving costs? (This is in Washington state)

Thank you for any suggestions or help,
Birgitte
