Two family house. Do you have a new lease? To call HPD in the matters of heat within a building, especially the two family kind is a waste. HPD calls the landlord conserning the heat and leaves it up to the landlord to correct the problem. HPD does send an inspector to the building, but depending on the time of the year and the weather, they may not come. Which is bad because you just made the landlord mad at you and a housing inspector can't force a landlord to provide heat. Only a Judge can order a landlord and he would have to inspect the building regularly. Which is not going to happen.

And once your lease expires the landlord can evict you.

: Does anyone have any accurate Information On heating laws in New York? Any numbers to contact, and exactly what the regulation is for heat in an apartment/2 faimly house. My landlords excuse for the lack of heat was the boiler being down. How much time is she allowed to have the boiler working, and what actions do I take if sh fails to do so.
