New Paikoff v. Harris ruling

Posted by Eric Roberts on October 21, 1998 at 21:44:42:

We live in a cooperative building (880 W. 181 St.)that was converted in 1992 and are leasing from a shareholder/owner. Our lease expires 12/1/98 and our landlord/owner wants us to move out in order for him to sell the apartment. We have been good tenants for the past 2 years and in our lease renewal of last year, signed a document in which he stated he had no intention of selling the apartment and that we could stay as long as we wished.

The question is: Are we protected from eviction under the new ruling (Paikoff v. Harris) as well as under the Martin Act? If not, how much notice are we entitled to before we have to move?
