: :Silver, Brunno, Vito Lopez and Mike McKee ARE NOT running for governor, and, unfortunately, neither is Mark Green, who might have made the best candidate.
But Pataki is. We have choices to make, and unfortunately, by sitting on the sidelines, we will allow Pataki (and on the Senate race, his mentor, D'Amato), to win.
Recall that it was Pataki that appointed Roldan Deputy Commissioner at DHCR, and Marcia Hirsch as Counsel. These two proceeded to impose by a stroke of the pen the "Deminimis" rule,
effectively gutting enforcement of tenants' complaints of cutbacks in services, and it was Hirsh who wrote last year's laws, which, among the many evils that law embodied,
imposed the "four year" rule for tenants challenge of rent overcharges, among many other things. Thus, our goal, our priority, should be to remove Pataki (and D'Amato) from office.
Tenants have lost all clouts, because the tenants leadership is fragmented, and cannot coalesce behind a viable alternative to Pataki. Wait until after the elections, when Bruno/Pataki
will gloat that tenants have no powers and do not vote.
