It is all in the details. This person is on the lease, right? Well, who was the first leasee? You? Is this a rent stablized building or a private house (less than six families). All these questions have to be asked, including how the rent is paid. Ask the person if she's willing to move for money? I will check back.

: I have a roommate, we are both on the lease, which is about to expire. I don't want to live with her anymore, she drives me crazy and is late with rent. I don't even like to be in the apartment when she is there? i want to keep the apartment but get a new roommate. She is refusing to leave and wants to resign the lease. How can I get her to leave???
