Advice on how to handle noise, dirt, and threatening neighbors

Posted by sanyu on September 21, 1998 at 13:15:27:

Hello. Unbeknowst to us, my roomate and I moved into an apartment in March that is in the noisiest neighborhood in Brooklyn! There are kids who constantly scream all night long. My roomates car has been destroyed by kids sitting on it (the dents and scratches in the hood are unbelievable). We said we would deal with it b/c in the winter it seems to be not as busy. Recently, however, I was challenged or threatened by some kids because I asked them to turn their music down and stop yelling at 2am in the morning. We would like to leave the building and have talked to the management about it in hopes we could move to another building they own, but all they say is that we have to find someone else to rent the apartment. The problem is we only know single females and they will feel just as threatened as we do.
Any advice?
