I was blacklisted for suing, too

I also was turned down and told that the reason was because I had sued a prior landlord. Fortunately, I was able to find an apartment after that where the landlord didn't care, because I told him my side of the story before he did the legal check. I wonder how rare that is, though.

Anyway, I was told that there is nothing we can do about it because all court records are public information. Also, landlords have the right to rent to whomever they want- it is at their discretion. I don't really see what contacting a state rep can do, when a landlord can say he didn't rent it for a different reason (someone else first, etc.).
