: The person who "maintains" our 8-unit rental building barely does anything at all to keep the premises clean. He SWEEPS the carpet once a month from the top floor to the bottom, sweeping dust into the air and ALL OVER our doors and bannisters, leaving them ladened with inches of dust.
: Not only does it create an extremely dirty and unpleasant environment, but for those of us with allergies or sensitivites to dust, it is unbearable.
: Which agency in New York City handles the cleanliness of public hallways?
: Is it the HPD or DHCR? And how do we get them to come out to inspect the hallway?
: Gasping for Air!

Both DHCR and HPD are supposed to handle it, but our wonderful government
(both parties, not just Giuliani and Pataki) have allowed the inspectors
to dwindle to the point where you just can't get an inspection unless it's
part of a court case, so be prepared to force the issue in court if the owner
won't respond to complaints.
