EVICTION: Can't find an attorney!

Posted by Billie Jean Frye on March 11, 1998 at 20:01:40:

I was given a ten day notice to move. I have a lease that is not up
until July and I am current on my rent. In December, one of my son's
friends broke the window in our garage. The
landlord said as long as I pay for it, there was no problem. We agreed
that he would get it fixed and send me the bill. He never got it fixed
or requested any money for it. Then, last month, he gave me
the ten day notice. I did not leave, so he is taking me to court.

Now, he says that I do not rent the garage, I'm destroying property
and I'm unsanitary! He has broken the lease many times by entering my
home without my knowledge, not allowing me access to the garage, putting
my things into the garage without my permission, refusing to provide
utility statements upon my request and not getting a working refrigerator
for a month after the other one died.

I have called 14 attorneys and nobody does this type of work from the
tenant's side. I need to find a complete source for the laws
surrounding tenant rights and eviction.

thanks,
BJF
