Fairness

Posted by Daniel K. Chan on February 24, 1998 at 00:32:12:

Dear tenant -at- tenant.net
I have just read several of your postings on the web, and I must say
that I am somewhat disheartened. Your group seems to feel that no
matter what, it is always the landlords fault. I'm sure your
"Monkeywrenching at it's best" has harmed many a good landlord. Or
perhaps in your book there is no such thing.
I came on the Web looking for help because I am at my wit's end. We
are literally being held hostage by tenants, if you can call them that.
I worry about vandalism of the apartment and of my car. I worry about
the bills we owe because "monkeywrenching" tenants don't have to pay
rent it seems. They harrass us with loud music and talk till all hours
of the night. They make false accusations about the condition of the
apartment, and these "Tenants" know that landlord/tenant Court is
stacked in their favor.
And what do I find on the Web. Not help, but condemnation.
Instruction on how to stretch out the torture of landlords. Whatever
happenned to fair play, or at least equal time. Ms. Mcguire says that
the power is all in the hands of the landlord and our attorneys. Not
from where I'm sitting, as for my attorney. Maybe if the "tenant" paid
their rent I might have one, oh but, if they paid their rent I wouldn't
need one. Yes Ms. Mcguire, it does seem to be a David vs. Goliath
battle. But who is David and who is Goliath.
Sincerely Yours,
Daniel K. Chan
P.S. I know there will be no fairness from your organization but it did
feel good to vent. I thank you for that small concession.
