LAST WEEK I WENT TO COURT WITH MY FORMER LANDLORD AND HAD GREAT RESULTS. HE WAS LOOKING FOR 750.00 IN RENT I OWED TO HIM FOR DECEMBER AND JANUARY. I HAD STAGED A RENT STRIKE BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO FIX ANY THING. ALL OF MY PLUMBING WAS TAPED TOGETHER WITH BLACK ELECTRICAL TAPE, THE ROOF LEAKED, THE TUB DRAINED INTO MY KITCHEN CUPBOARDS ETC. I HAD CALLED THE HOUSING INSPECTOR AND MY LANDLORD WAS CITED AND FINED. HE THEN PROMPTLY SERVED ME WITH A 30 DAY NOTICE TO MOVE. SINCE THE WORK WASN'T DONE IN THE TIME ALLOTTED BY THE CITY, THE JUDGE DECREED I ONLY OWED 75 DOLLARS FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER AND TO APPLY MY SECURITY(WHICH I KNEW HE'D NEVER GIVE BACK OTHERWISE). MY LANDLORD HAD AN ATTORNEY AND I DID NOT. ALL I HAD WAS THE TRUTH. I STARTED A LETTER CAMPAIGN TO ALL THE OFFICIALS IN MY CITY NOT TO MENTION OUR LOCAL PAPER. I DID NOT TRASH MY LANDLORD BUT SIMPLY STATED WHAT I HAD BEEN GOING THROUGH. NOT ONLY DID I GET RESPONSES, I WAS ASKED TO SEE THE MAYOR AND MY CITY COUNCILMAN CAME TO MY HOME TO SEE ME. I'VE MOVED ON TO BIGGER AND BETTER PLACES NOW BUT WANTED TO SAY MOM WAS RIGHT!!! TH SQUEAKY WHEEL REALLY DOES GET THE OIL.
