I live in Westchester Co. above my landlady in a 2 family home.
Last yr. she charged me 1.5 months security (is the legal limit 1 mos?-plus did
they have to tell us where is was deposited???)

At 7:30pm on December 31 she tells me & my 6 mos. pregnant wife that she will
not renew the lease by falsely accusing my wife of smoking (which would violate
the "There is no smoking on premises" clause on the lease). Stated she smelled smoke
in our bathroom 6 weeks earlier, when she came upstairs w/a plumber (at my request)
to fix the heat. Also claimed she missed 4 days from new job due to smoke drifting
downward (through ceramic floors and ceiling!!!!). My wife stopped smoking
last year, never smoked in the apartment. Always paid our rent on time, and we are
quiet as mice. Although I am having a walk-thru with pictures, I am afraid
this isn't enough.
walk-through done, what else can I do to prevent this maniac from keeping
my money?
