Vacated but Still Getting Invoices for Rent

Posted by Amy on January 14, 1998 at 11:42:51:

As a result with a dispute with my landlord over my dog, I choose to move out
of my apartment as the "remedy" the alleged problem my dog was causing (noise).
Anyway, I broke my lease and vacated as of January 1, after providing written notice and having
recieved verbal confirmation of notice, however, I just had forwarded to
my new address an invoice for January rent at the old address. I'm concerned
that this slimy landlord is going to continue invoicing me for the
remainder of my lease. Can he do this? My requests for copies of my lease
clearly marked "Terminated, January 1, 1998" have gone ignored thus far.
