It's not energy wasted; it's an education given to an extremely ignorant person. There is no amount of compensation to make up for what you were put through. Get a real estate lawyer in your area ... one who specializes in tenant-landlord matters (preferably one who works mainly for tenants). Check the Yellow Pages in your area, or use the internet to search for one.

Also, if this is an option, I would start looking for a new place to live. Good luck.
