Random rent increase

Posted by Valerie Andrewlevich on October 20, 1997 at 12:44:47:

My landlord has informed me that at the end of my current lease, June 30, 1998,
that he will be increasing my rent. He has not indicated by how much. I live in
a three family unit and I have no idea what dictates how much he can
legally raise my rent since it is not a rent controlled or stablilized building. Do I
have any rights or legal checks on my side in case he decides to increase it
by an outrageous amount? He keeps talking about how much more the rents
are on the block these days and I sense that he suggesting a large rent increase.
