Metropolitan Council on Housing is holding a rally to protest a new eviction law. From their flyer: "On Oct. 20, Governor Pataki's new eviction law will go into effect. In most cases, Housing Court judges will be stripped of the power they now have to halt evictions by signing "orders to show cause," no matter what the circumstances, unless the tenant has already paid the rent or deposited it into court....
The rally is on Monday, October 20th at 111 Centre St. (at Franklin St) from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.
