Trump & Government support for luxury housing

Posted by Batya Lewton on July 09, 1997 at 10:51:56:

Trump received approval to build 16 luxury towers on Manhattan's west side (old Penn Yards - 59th -72nd Street, West End to the River).
He is seeking Federal Housing Administration mortgage insurance guarantees for 4 buildings to the tune of $355.5 million dollars. He applied under the blighted slum section. The Coalition for a Livable West Side went to court to stop Hud from granting it but recently the judge dismissed the case and said that HUD had the right to accept the city's strategy for the area. City had no strategy, eveidence was filed in court and IGNORED, that the so-called City Strategy was sent to HPD by Trump's hired employee and the City merelyt printed it out from the dsik supplied and sent it to HUD.
Congressman Jerrold Nadler and Senator John McCain are tying to stop HUD (Andrew Cuomo) from approving Trump's application based on the recommendation of the Inspector-General (HUD's Audit Division) that the application be denied.
We need your help and the help of all interested parties to make sure that government support in the form of insurance mortgage guarantees and abatements etc. NOT BE USED TO BUILD LUXURY HOUSING. Those empty apartments will count in the next vacancy census!
Sample: I, , a registered voter and a resident of (great if people outside area write or e-mail or fax) oppose the use of federal mortgage insurance, New York State Housing Finance Agency mortgage financing and/or New York City real estate tax abatements for the development of housing in Riverside South and request that HUD, NYS HFA, the NYS Public Authorities Control Board (PACB), and other relevant agencies, not permit such use of public resources for the development of housing in Riverside South.

Can e-mail you more information later. Can't find Pataki's e-mail address or fax number. Cuomo's office has given me the wrong e-mail address. I'll keep trying. PLEASE HELP!
Peace
Batya
