FAMILY IN CRISIS - NOWHERE TO LIVE !

Posted by Randal Goya on April 22, 1997 at 17:20:36:

WE HAD TROUBLE PAYING THE UNREGULATED RENT, SO WE LEASED A MORE MODEST
APARTMENT. THE LANDLORD PROMISED NECESSARY REPAIRS BEFORE WE MOVED IN.
NOW WE HAVE PASSED THE 4/7 DATE WE AGREED TO MOVE OUT (IN STIP TO 72HR NOTICE)
BUT NEW APARTMENT REMAINS UNINHABITABLE - NO WATER, DANGEROUS WIRING
(PER CON ED) AND LANDLORD WILL NOT REFUND RENT & SECURITY!!!

WHEN OLD LANDLORD EVICTS US, WE WILL HAVE NOWHERE TO GO (WE HAVE 7 YR CHILD)

ALL OUR MONEY FOR MOVE AND EXPENSES HAS BEEN SPENT COPING WITH CRISIS AND
IN NEW LANDLORD'S BANK ACCOUNT. FAMILY HAS REFUSED TO HELP OR PROVIDE
SHELTER.

LAWYERS WE CONSULTED DO NOT "GROK" THAT WE DO NOT HAVE MONTHS TO BATTLE IN
SMALL CLAIMS OR 45 DAYS TO WAIT FOR HUMAN SERVICES. IF WE CAN GET A LITTLE
HELP, WE CAN REBUILD OUR LIVES!

* HELP NEEDED: *

1. Does anyone know of decent affordable apt of ANY type in Manhattan
available immediately? (We may get family assistance on 1st rent&secy)

2. Can anyone provide crisis housing temporarily in an emergency?

3. Got any ideas how to deal with crook landlord (corporation) and
sleazy lawyer who forced us into new apt deal?

4. Also looking for professional ofc. rent/share in mid-town or village
so we can generate income!

5. My mother is a well-known artist with a summer house in East Hampton.
If you would like to urge her to help us (one-time, not permanent support)
her name is Berenice D'Vorzon and her phone # is 212-226-5862.
