Follow up to 'Rent Control Question of the Day'

To Tenent Net:

In an earlier exchange today, you stated that not only do the Republicans need to be dealt with dealt with
in regard to rent regulations, but that the Democrats, especially Sheldon Silver, need to held responsible for
any weakening of the rent laws. This brings up an interesting question. Suppose a compromise was offered by Joe Bruno
that would keep rent regulation in some weakened form (lowered limits for 'Luxury' decontrol, Vacancy Decontrol,
take your pick) but kept core protection for most current tenents in their current apartments. In the face of
possible, and even probable, non-renewal, would you support (Grudgingly) such a compromise. This is all assuming
that the tenent lobby can't pull off a clean will (full renewal). I know this is the desired result, but it may be
time to consider how to deal with less desireable alternatives.

This is not a theoretical question. This is VERY likely how things will play out.
