Breaking a lease - What does this do to credit history

Posted by evan on April 04, 1997 at 15:43:33:

Hi,

A friend of mine is looking to break a lease which has two months
remaining. She orally informed the property manager. The first time she
did so the manager agreed to try to show the apartment to prospective
tenants. But a week or so later, she claimed she had no intention of doing
so because there are more openings available now.

Can my friend simply leave? She does not care about the security deposit.
But she is worried about what this would do to her credit history. Are
there other dangers to be considered?

Thanks.

Evan
