^~^ CityWide Rent Strike ^~^

Posted by 258w97 Tenant trying to make a living on May 23, 1997 at 16:33:02:

Month of June, 1997
There will be a RENT STRIKE for the entire month to show we tenants are
not going to tolerate abusive treatment by the people we vote for and the
are Suppose to REPRESENT US in OUR GOVERNMENT. If the current
rent laws expire, the economy of New York and the businesses will be
effected. A large percentage of people will have money, but not enough to rent a affordable home. The rent laws were developed to help people to
have an affordable home. Otherwise, you will have high and very high income families residing in New York.

I do agree homes should be regulated by the amount of square footage
available in each apartment.
Example,

10 x 12 room with a small kitchen and bathroom = about 400.00 per
month, this is actually about the size of a medium motor home.

1 bedroom apartment should be about 700.00 per month
2 bedroom apartment should be about 1000.00 per month, or so.

It is true that i feel that one should not be rented an apartment with 3
bedrooms for the amount of $300.00 per month. I am strickly a tenant
and i know that it is not fair. Rent Control and Stablization should be enforced and adjusted so that it is fair to all, (within reason).

Many people came to New York to make it in life, yes even your ancestors, and These politicians come in and protect the SUPER RICH, and my opinion, their attitude is "To HELL WITH THE POOR" .Who or How Many are DEFENDING THE LOWER INCOME families and individual. Who wants more panhandlers on our streets and the subways?
If you were in the low income bracket, would you want someone to take
away all of the progress you have made and have you forced to work twice as hard and twice as much so you can desert for your kids, or to go to the movies, We live in a civilized culture thence we are supposed to look out for each other. What leader do we have Watching out for us?
