: That's what I've been afraid of. Other work that has been done in my
apartment by the landlord has been bad - non-smooth plastering, paint
: I've contracted a workman, who will do the entire room for a reasonable
price. Now the landlord is griping about the materials and such. Not
that he's not willing to provide them - he just disagrees with how the
work is going to be done. He states that his method is better.
: Next I need to have work done on the bathroom, which, behind the
panneling, is in worse shape.
That's because an independent workman (not under the direction of the
landlord) has an incentive to do a good job. You're the one paying.
Box the landlord in a corner on his agreement for cost of materials.
If he screams, just point to the bad jobs that his people did. Get a
witness to his agreement for the materials, so he can't later claim
he never said that.
