Llord Puts Dangerous Obstruction in Lobby

Posted by Kibo Schaffer on February 08, 1997 at 11:51:27:

Our landlord placed a large table in the sole narrow lobbyway, between
the front doors and the elevator. Worse, the table (obstructs 60% of
the width of the passageway) features a table top which overhangs the
sides by 6" on each side ---- creating sharp corners at hip-level for
adults, and worse, right at eye-level to our 2 year old.

Several tenants see the future --- someone is going to get seriously hurt...
but the landlord refuses to remove this hazard or modify the table (at
least) to saw off the overhang.

I've been told (by the alndlord!) there is no law regarding such an
obviously dangerous obstruction to the building's only ingress--egress.

Would be grateful for any advise.... how to cause removal.

Thanks,

Kibo
