: I have two questions that relate to a sublet in a rent stabilized apartment
: in New York City.
: Is a verbal agreement for a one year sublet ever valid? (I know that
: under one year is.) If so, under what circumstances?
: If not, is it considered a month to month tenancy?
: Finally, do you know where I could find more information about cases and
: rulings that involved these issues? I've already checked the archive on
: tenantnet.
: Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Then I assume you've seen the fact sheet on subletting (look in the
Met Council section). Also check the CTRC fact sheets and Real
Property Law 226-b. A sublet is not a month-to-month tenancy.
