Water Leak not Repaired as promised/lots of damages/for Calif.

Posted by Debie on December 17, 1996 at 19:17:31:

I notified Property Manager promplty after noticing a leak, she assured me it would
be repaired (she even called in the order). I informed her I would be out of town
she said that would be great since they would have to tear out the walls. When I returned
I found 3 inches of water and the humidity level was extreamly high. Apparently
she never followed up with the work order. It also took them 3 more day's to drain the water
out of the apartment and repair the leaks only to have 3 more appear. For 3 day's
I walked around in puddles. The floor is still wet 2 weeks later. I refused to
pay Dec.'s Rent. At first they were going to move me to another apartment at
there expense and now they say they won't. They have also served with a 3 day
notice. I felt I have been more than coorperative. The damages to my personal
possession is over $3,000 not to mention missing work and school. I have had to
leave window's open, run my heater full time and still be cold.
Getting a Lawyer I'm sure is my next step. I would appreciate any information
that someone might have in this situation.
