rent stabilized tennants in co-ops

Posted by Lisa on December 16, 1996 at 14:21:01:

My question concerns the status of tennants who did not purchase their apts
when their landlords co-oped their building in a non-eviction plan, but
remained as rent-stabilized lease holders. Is our status the same as renters
in rental buildings if rental laws are phased out? I seem to remember
someone saying that unlike leaseholders in rental buildings, sponser-owned
apt tennents would have protection from unreasonable rent increases(thus defacto
eviction)even if rent stabilization was phased out or repealed...does
anyone out there know if this is true???? Thank you
Lisa
