Possibly. You don't give us much details, but your email address
indicates you're in NY. If the unit is/was rent controlled or
rent stabilized, you may have succession rights depending on a number of
factors, including if you lived with the grandfather for one or two
years before he left or passed away. Take a look at DHCR's succession
regulations on the web sites -- I believe it's in the DHCR Info area.
