Guarantor's Liability in Rent Stabalized Apt [NYC]

Posted by Henry Tung on September 01, 1996 at 15:30:22:

Greetings,

For my daughter to qualify to live in a rent-stablized
apartment in Manhattan, I must be a guarantor.
I would like to know whether I am only responsible
for the rent or whether I am liable for any of my daugher's
acts. For example, if my daugther accidently burns
down the apartment building, am I liable for the damages?
Does a rent-stablized building in Manhattan carry
property/personal insurance that also covers its
tenants? Thank you so much for your assistance.
