Flooding room

Posted by Crystal Larson on August 31, 1996 at 14:21:24:

I rent a room that has continuously flooded since April. Mildew has grown on my walls and carpet. The smell of mildew is stuck in my padding and fills the room with stench. I told my landlord many times of the problem and he cleaned my carpets once and then it flooded again thaat night. My apt. is in the basement. I gave my landlord my 30 days notice and moved out. After moving out he finally fixed the problem. I read somewhere that I can have my rent refunded for the months I had to live in a wet, mildewed, stinky, apartment. I plan on taking my ex-landlord to court with-in the next few months over this, and other things, but has any one delt with a refunding of their rent like this? And if so could you give me some ideas on how to make sure I win!

Thank you so much!
Crystal
