: : : : : Does anyone have any websites for the Washington,DC Renters rights, or Lease Laws.
: : : : : I want to know what are District landlord guidelines for making a dwelling inhahitable.
: : : : : What to do after you've signed a lease, afterwards finding out the place wasn't what it had appeared to be.

: :
: : :
: : : There's an organization called "D.C. Law Students in Court" on 7th St. NW which offers advice and legal representation to indigent tenants in the D.C. area. It's staffed by law students from the 5 local law schools, (supervised by real attorneys).
: : : Even if you're not indigent, if you call them, they'll often give you great information over the phone. I used to work there; they know the D.C. laws inside out. Good luck!

Thanks Lynn,
about a month ago, L&T Assn. referred to these great buch of people. Hats off to them. Actually
the landlord has returned all but a portion of my money. Now, I'm in the
process of submitting a small claims against this slumlord! The D.C. law students have helped
me prepare everything they are to great for words to explain.
