apartment rentals in NYC

Posted by John on July 14, 1996 at 11:50:28:

I'd like to ask a dumb question. If you live in a building which is NOT rent controlled/rent stabilized, can your rent be increased by any amount ll, when you renew the lease? For ex, if you're paying $700 and then your lease comes up for renewal, can they increase it to 1200? Is there any limit to the amount of the increase under NY laws and regs?
