First issue -- get your bank statement, or request a statement &/or a
photocopy of the check from your bank.

Second issue. If you have a copy of the lease renewals, then that proves it.
But if you're in NY and rent stabilized, if the owner failed to either
offer you a **valid and legal** lease renewal offer or failed to
execute it after you sent it back, then that is in your favor since
the rent cannot go up. Take this to court instead of DHCR.

Document what he does. You can file harassment charges with DHCR. They
won't do anything, but it might cause him to stop. You should read the fact
