LL requires cash rent payment won't accept cert. chk

Posted by Lee on February 16, 2002 at 20:30:49:

My landlord rents out 3 apt. buildings... we have lived in two
of these buildings... previously she required that half the rent
be paid in cash and now requires that the full rent be paid in
cash... after recently going through a mugging, I do not want
to carry $1500 in cash on me and this last month I paid with a
certified check and the landlord balked saying she will not
accept a certified check and wants cash... do tenants have
any rights in regards to how they pay the rent... it seems
unreasonable to have to pay in cash... to carry that much
money around seems foolish and dangerous in these times.

Any help, info or resources I could use to get my LL to
accept at least a certified check.
