I'd think if you have to restore the walls to the original color when you move, you should be able to paint them whatever color you please.Painting the walls is just normal maintenance that the Landlord is usually responsible for anyway.

: I just got a new apt and paid not only first and last months rent but also a month security. We wanted to paint some walls and the LL said we had to get the colors approved and agree to paint them back. I am ok with that and they did approve them but now they are saying they need an additional deposit to cover the re-paint, which was not in th lease. This seems unreasonable. We really like the apt, can we be evicted for this?
