You should try to get this cleared up- start by contacting all 3 of the major credit reporting agencies- TRW, Equifax and Transunion(?) or Experian and purchase a copy of your credit reports-sometimes they are free. The LL who turned you down might tell you where he got the infoin the first place. If this info is incorrect,and even if it's not, you must send a leter(certified mail) to the credit reporting agency disputing the claim-this letter is supposed to stay in your file-that you dispute the claim. If you were in court for a non-payment and it was cleared up, it would be great if you could get that Landlord to write a letter in your behalf.
