I'm new to NY and I live in a 2 family house in Brooklyn. The LL lives in the upstairs apartment, I live in the downstairs unit. There's a room in the basement, which the LL calls a studio apartment. It had been rented....now it is occupied by the brother-in-law of the LL. My question is...does LL have to comply with any city laws? My lease expired in 8/31/01...I asked if there would be a renewal..she said yes, but has not yet given me a renewal, despite my repeated requests.
