I just signed a lease for Jan. 1 and moved in one day early because of an agreement with the previous tenant who we paid rent to and who had informed management of the situation which was why we were approved for signing the lease. Extensive repairs (including safety hazards), cleaning and painting have not been completed although the apartment was more than half empty for the month of December and the super was informed of the necessary repairs. The super informed me things would be finished January 1 and they have not even made any attempts to contact us regarding the delays. We have still not received a copy of the lease. This is obviously only the beginning of the entire story, I need to find out what my rights are regarding pro-rating rent for days the work is not finished, etc. If anyone has any advice, please respond. Thanks.
