Can't move in without inspection

Posted by Donald on January 02, 2002 at 17:48:09:

I went through a broker to find a newly constructed apartment in Hoboken. When I was showed the place, I was told it would be available on Dec. 15. When I signed the lease two days later, I was told it may not be ready till Jan. 1, and that my lease would not start till then. Last week, the realtor called and told me that I would not be able to move in because the building had not been inspected yet, and may not be ready until Jan. 15.

At this I point I feel like I've been on the run-around, and not sure what to do. I've been inconvienced, and I now have to crash with some friends until the place is ready. I'm not even sure I can believe the realtor at this point. Will I be responsible for the rent beginning since Jan. 1? Can I ask for a partial or full refund of the broker fee? Do I have any recourse against the realtor or the LL? I'm pissed, but I don't know to whom I should direct my anger!
